ELT Journal’s Key Concepts feature began in 1993, aiming ‘to provide a gradually developing encyclopaedic glossary of key concepts in ELT, which will consider the origins and development of each concept, give explanations and examples, and suggest key sources’ (Hedge 1993: 2).
